To some, the perfect burger is a lifelong search, a religion. I’m pretty shameless when it comes to my love for burgers and not ashamed whatsoever! Having grown up in Southern California I ate at In-N-Out Burger on Friday’s during high school, and college consisted of The Buffalo Inn. My career in Santa Monica allowed me to enjoy such gourmet burger joints as Father’s Office and Counter Burger. Now having Celiac Disease, I’m limited to burgers made at home most of the time. So when presented with the opportunity to work with Tillamook Cheese for National Burger Month, of course I said yes! A burger without good cheese is well simply put just a sad burger. Top my burger off with Tillamook cheddar – yes please! What I’ve always loved about Tillamook Cheese is that they are a collective of farmers who came together to form the Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA), “to ensure the quality and reputation of cheese made Continue Reading

With May being Celiac Awareness Month, I will be featuring my favorite gluten-free cookbook authors, food bloggers and products each day to share with all of you! Gluten Is My Bitch: Rants, Recipes, & Ridiculousness for the Gluten-Free, is a blog and soon to be released book penned by April Peveteaux, who will have you laughing with every rant and rave, giving it to you straight. What do I love about April so much? April is willing to tackle every uncomfortable conversation about Celiac Disease with humor, when so many stray away from such realities. In her recent Huffington Post article “Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Gluten-Free” April cuts to the quick with her own personal frustration of living with Celiac Disease stating “I’m just an incredibly irritated celiac who wants to leave my house without fear of crapping my pants.” Yes sometimes we crap our pants, break out in rashes all over our bodies, vomit and worst case scenario have difficulty breathing, but Continue Reading

This weekend’s Austin FOOD & WINE Festival highlight was demo from Chef Graham Elliot & Chef Merlin Verrier. Consummate comedians who love food, they had the crowd in stitches, while whipping up their version of two American classics. With quick wit and repartee, the two chefs played off one another like they were brothers from another motha.Chef Elliot is well-known for his love of music and delighted those in attendance a taste of his dance moves, as Guns N Roses Welcome to the Jungle played for the crowd. Make sure to come out for 2014′s Austin FOOD & WINE Festival next April! Stay tuned for my wrap-up coverage for The Daily Meal later this week. If you traveling to Chicago make sure to head over to one of Chef Graham Elliot’s restaurants which includes: Graham Elliot (earned 2 Michelin stars) Grahamwich Graham Elliot Bistro (g.e.b. for short) I know it will certainly be a stop I make on my next trip to Chicago!

The upcoming 2nd Annual 2013 Austin FOOD & WINE Festival has many in a lone star state of mind. Food and the Austin chefs that create it, have put Austin, TX on the map. Not only is Austin the “Live Music Capital of the World,” but is one of this countries culinary hotspots. Festival attendees will descend upon Austin, TX to sip, savor, and stroll the festival grounds, rubbing elbows with some of the most celebrated chefs of our time, as well as fabulous line-up of Austin based chefs. Butler Park will host this years festival, adjacent to Auditorium Shores, which hosted 2012′s Austin FOOD & WINE Festival. Kicking off the festival with a bang, the Taste of Texas event featuring the Whisky Shivers and Delta Spirit. Come prepared, the Whiskey Shivers will most certainly light up the crowd with their blend of eclectic folk -bluegrass inspired music. I had the pleasure of hearing their music last year during a filming for Anthony Continue Reading
